Rawlins and to Scott's Bluff....27th & 28th September...

A shorter post today....
We have a 2 night stopover in Rawlins and a lovely sunny day for a walk around the old town....
This is The Blake House the first "fine" house to be built on this side of the railroad...however built on the site of Rawlins first cemetery !!!
Mum and babies out for a stroll in town...
Sorry folks but there might be the odd water tower or two on this road trip!!
The Wyoming State Penitentiary constructed in 1893 and in use until 1981...
We met an English couple here from Kent who's son lives in Alton....small world...they had driven down from Yellowstone, lots of snow up there already !!
And another chap checking out the sidewalks...life in rural Wyoming...
Thursday 28th and on the road again after a chat with another travelling English couple who were staying at our RV Park...
We are back onto the I-80 and driving 200 miles east through rural Wyoming....
Song for today is The Man From Laramie although at 8640ft elevation and thick fog we didn't see much of the town !!
Welcome to Nebraska and another tick in the box for States visited...
17 miles over the state line we get a tyre blow out on the trailer....not good but at least it wasn't while we were in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming...again thank goodness for On Star who sourced a local guy to come out and change the wheel and get us on our way to the nearby town of Kimball to get a new tyre fitted...
Kimball was our turn off for the 40 miles north to Scott's Bluff and our home for the next week at The Robidoux RV Park and one of the nicest ones we have stayed in so far...
The intrepid travellers are a bit shattered but hey ho all part of life's rich tapestry...it was a few bevies and an early night...tomorrow is another day !!
Until the next post....

  1. Well, youve had some adventures to start this trip! Still you are old hands now in ways American - must all be a breeze for you! Will look forward to seeing photos - find me some cowboys!

  2. It certainly looks that you are having an eventful start to your trip. Song comes to mind "Things can only get better".
I had forgotten how much I looked forward to the odd water tower pic.
Hope the few bevies and early night have helped you overcome your trials , and that all goes smoothly from now on.
    Cheers,

We had a ghastly weather day yesterday with torrential rain for the last 20 miles or so but snug for the evening with a toddy or two...
By the way, I have just had a marketing email from our favourite store Total Wine and More...their Whisky of the month is HP Valkyrie....
      Cheers from us both..x
