Tucson & Salome, AZ & Las Vegas,NV....17th-29th November..

Saturday 18th November and a long hike on the trails of the Tucson Mountain Park across to Kinney Road and the start of the Saguaro National Park...
Ummm...
Yes dear just one more picture !!!
We just love the variations in shape and clusters of these majestic plants....
Ended up a six mile hike and hot by the time we got home.....yes we had plenty of water...
We are moving on tomorrow and things to do ready for the off after we had lunch....by the time I had walked up and down our various stairs and walked down to the office, had a walk around the park with our neighbour Elaine etc etc I achieved my best ever step count of 23,582 steps !!!!
When we arrived at this "snowbird" RV Park we were slightly less than impressed as it is a bit junky or "funky" as one fellow camper said...but the welcome and friendliness couldn't be better....after a few days we could see why folks come back here year after year...for hiking and mountain biking trails it can't be beat and there are a ton of activities if you want to join in and no pressure if you don't....
After fond farewells to our neighbours Elaine and John we head out up to the I-10 to head west of Phoenix to Salome, AZ....
Sorry for the blurred photo but taken out of side window while on the move of some of the many cotton fields in this part of the deserts of Arizona....
In the background the green strip is Alfalfa grown widely.....
The average 300 days of sunshine in AZ means that crop growing is year round....
Our lunch sandwich view at a rest area on the 1-10....
Oppps....a few miles after leaving the rest area and a couple of miles from our exit we come to a grinding halt !!
Although Sunday the roads have been quite busy, there are always semi-trucks, but this is the Thanksgiving Weekend and folks are returning home after family gatherings....
Thank goodness the hold up is construction/road works and not a nasty accident...
We head across country to Salome to meet up with camping buddies...
All set in the sunshine for a week of R & R....
Pool time, interacting with old and new camping buddies and playing a wicked card game of Fast Track....
This and next pic....another stunning sunset in Salome, Arizona....

And another one the next evening...
Wow what a feast...
This is the second time we have been in the US during the Thanksgiving celebrations....

The RV park owners always supply the turkeys and we all take sides or deserts to share...

Carole had suggested we make Yorkshire puddings...oh what a blast that would have been but our oven is not great and nothing on board to cook them in....
And just some of the deserts....the walnut pie (foreground) was scrumptious and yay enough left over for us to take home a doggie box...
Pool time tomorrow to work off the calories !!! My Fitbit is not happy...it's not water proof so down on steps this week !!!
And back ""On The Road Again for the final stage of Yorkieman's Wild West Road Trip...
We head for the Joshua Tree Parkway of Arizona Scenic Road..
It's a road we travelled in spring when it was a carpet of yellow but still spectacular today....we are not sure what this bush is but there are lots of them and in full bloom....
On this route it is very hard to get good pics of the Joshua trees as not too many pullouts and the trees are best photographed in late spring when they have amazing long stemmed blooms.....
Back up to the higher ground and the majestic saguaro...having said higher ground we were still at 2,000ft elevation in Salome !!
As we pass up through the mountains interesting rock formations...
This view and our experience today is a totally different from when we drove this same route in March during an horrendous thunder storm with gusty cross winds. !!!
This is one of the many "animal" bridges on this route....
We love this sort of scenery..
We've come full circle and back in Las Vegas and gain an extra hour....yay...oh wait that means 5 o'clock is later !!! But hey it's 5 O'clock Somewhere !!!!
We have driven this road before but this black hill with the vertical road always makes us smile...
The "bollards" are part of the road works/construction for the new Interstate 11...

We arrive back at Hitchin' Post RV Park...4th stay and very convenient for the storage facility  for a 3 night stay to prep the trailer for storage, we off loaded lots of goodies that we can't store back in Salome...(hate waste)

Well blog followers I am ending another blog....this time with a couple of pics of us having so much fun at White Sands National Monument....
We have thoroughly enjoyed another interesting road trip and met old friends made new....
As ever we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for following our adventures, it means so much to us that so many of you are keen to see what we actually do in this vast and varied country....
Until the next time.....
Yorkieman and Mrs Blogger.....
